I say so in fun in part, and seriously in part, too.

As for my Carmelite side, I'm thankful, or relieved maybe, to read this regarding longing for union with God: "...all spiritual men know this longing. This is true. Nevertheless at Carmel this aspiration has a quality of immediacy, an insistence on prompt realization that distinguishes the Order's religious attitude..." The distinctions made in this entire excerpt of course pertain to the Carmelite Order with which I'm familiar, even intimate.

But what really comes to mind, though, is that outside of Orders we all have distinct gifts, too, that differ from one to another. Just knowing about the charisms or the attitudes or the spirit or distinctions of the different Orders, is helpful in understanding indivudual ways also. There is such discernment and scrutiny and definition for those within Orders that we on the outside have access to on the outside, too, for our own discernments of self and way.

I found this very difficult to express. I hope it makes sense with no hint of presumption of any kind.

God bless you, ocd sister, I pray in Jesus' Name...

p.s. this is also truly beautiful, breathtaking: "...it is possible for man truly to live the divine life. For this it suffices for him to realize in himself the climate of the original desert, and after withdrawing into this interior solitude, 'to hold himself in the presence of the living God'. Then the light of truth will come to purify, enlighten and enkindle his soul."aspiring...https://www.blogger.com/profile/10825316824097996382noreply@blogger.com
